Tursiops truncatus      Other      Bud32

※ Bud32 family introduction

BUD32 belong to "Other" group. One member, PRPK, have been identified in human genome. PRPK is also known as p53-related protein kinase. PRPK was first cloned form interleukin-2-activated cytotoxic T-cell subtraction library, and the expression could also be observed in some human epithelial tumor cell lines, and the testes. PRPK seems to be a homologue of a kinase from yeast, YGR262c, which is a growth-related ser/thr protein kinase. However, the functions of two kinases are not identical. Studies show that PRPK can bind to p53 and mediate the phosphorylation of p53 at ser-15. So PRPK might involve in cell cycle and apoptosis (1).
