The VPS15 gene encodes a protein kinase homolog that is essential for the efficient dilivery of soluble hydrolases to the yeast vacuole. VPS15 and VPS34 can interact directly with Gpa1 present at endosomes and stimulates increased production of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (1).
